A post appeared on the official Motorola’s blog a few minutes ago with information about the returning of the brand to China. Lenovo acquired the brand officially about three months ago and for this short time they’ve managed to bring back the phones to all Moto fans in China. For several years it has been impossible to buy a Moto phone, unless you check at the black market. Now this time is over.
During the official event held today, Motorola’s president Rick Osterloh spoke in front of fans and guests about Motorola’s history in China, and about the importance of this returning. At the same time on the event, there were built several experience zones, so the fans could touch and try out the latest devices. An interesting surprise there was the available Moto Voice in Chinese. All Motorola fans in China will be able to control their handsets giving commands in Chinese.
The company will start with three models – Moto X, Moto X Pro and Moto G. We all know about the latest generation Moto X and Moto G, however Moto X Pro is something new. It will probably be a revised Nexus 6, but we still don’t know, if the phone will keep any of the original hardware equipment, because it will cost around $200. With this price Motorola is trying to fight the low-cost devices with great hardware, which Xiaomi produces. By the present moment it’s only announced that Moto X Pro will be most likely with 8 GB internal storage. The Moto X on the other hand will cost around $540. The Moto G for the Chinese market will available for 4G use. The sales are expected to start after the Chinese new year (after February 19th).
At the same time Motorola announced that they will sell the Moto 360 smartwatch in China as well. The country will be the first country in Asia to have the chance to try officially the smartwatch, but availability will further announced and confirmed.
