Yu Yureka made lots of noise in the past month. It’s a Micromax parent company and the phone is a phablet with banging specification for what’s asking as a price. It’s a 5.5-inch with HD (720 x 1280) resolution. It’s powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. There’s generous 2GB RAM and 16 GB ROM on board. You can expand the storage by microSD card. There are two cameras – 13 MP back one and 5 MP front one. The phone comes with 2500mAh battery and it’s running Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4.4. The price is around $160, but it’s still really hard to get it. Unfortunately it’s only available in India at the moment. There were two batches of the phone, which were sold for just a few seconds. It’s not widely available and seems that Yureka is going to use the ‘hunger marketing’ strategy. Good device running the most popular Android rom, but there’s a chance that you are not willing to wait for the next batch. What are the similar phablet alternatives of Yu Yureka ?
Xiaomi Redmi Note
Xiaomi already announced their new Note phone, but the price is twice even triple higher compared to Redmi Note. It has exactly the same display size, resolution, front and back cameras and on board RAM. Redmi Note comes with octa-core 1.4GHz Mediatek MT6592 and is running Android 4.2. The in-build storage is just 8 GB and the battery is bigger compared to Yu Yureka – 3100mAh. The phone is almost 1 year old and the price has dropped to about $150-$160.
The beautiful metal Lenovo K900 is almost 2 years old, but it still worth some attention. You will get one really beautiful phone with 5.5-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) display. It has 13MP back camera and 2MP front camera. It comes with 2 GB RAM and there are 2 versions with 16 or 32 GB ROM, but unfortunately no microSD slot. It’s powered by dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 clocked at 2GHz. The battery size is the same – 2500mAh. Lenovo K900 is slightly expensive and it will cost you $180-$190 for the 16GB.
Xolo Omega 5.5
Another Indian manufacturer, who can try to compete with Yu Yureka is Xolo with their Omega 5.5. As the name points, it’s a 5.5 inches phone. The resolution of the screen remains the same compared to Yu Yureka, as well the back camera. The front camera is only 2 MP. Xolo Omega 5.5 is powered by the same chipset, which you can find in Xiaomi Redmi Note. It’s the octa-core Mediatek MT6592. The amount of RAM is just 1 GB and 8 GB for ROM memory. It’s running Android 4.4 and a 2600mAh will serve the phone. The price is around $160.
